Arrival in Funchal

Today you will arrive in Funchal and, from there, we will transfer you to Machico, on the coastal part of the island of Madeira. This historic town features charming fortresses and stunning beaches that will allow you to get your hiking trail off to a great start.

Hiking in the San Lorenço Peninsula

Breakfast and dinner included.

For today's route, you must take a bus to Canical yourself, from where you will walk to the San Lorenço Peninsula, your destination for this first stage. There, you will discover the contrast of this area, in the northeast of Madeira, with the rest of the island.

Throughout your day, you'll see the Islas Desiertas, as well as beautiful seascapes and multiple species of migratory birds that will cross your path. At the end of your route, take a bus back to Machico yourself.

From Levada do Canical to Porto da Cruz

Breakfast and dinner included.

Today you must take a bus on your own to Levada do Canical or, if you prefer, walk to the beginning of your starting point for the hike, previously passing the Pico Grande, from which the views will ensure that the start of your day is already worth it.

You will continue walking along the north coast of Madeira until you reach Porto da Cruz, your destination for today, and where we suggest you taste the famous local red wine. When you're done, you'll have an included transfer that will take you to Santana.

Hiking to Levada do Caldeirao Verde

Breakfast and dinner included.

For your hike today you will have a transfer included, just after breakfast, which takes you to Pico das Pedras, where the green paradise of Madeira will hook you and take you through the interior of the island.

After starting your trail, you will cross a wooden bridge and turn right. Along the way you'll find narrow passes, as well as some tunnels you'll have to cross in order to continue towards your destination for today.

You will reach Caldeirao Verde, where you will find a waterfall that you can enjoy and, of course, you can take some photos from there.

Once you have enjoyed the scenery, return to the starting point following the same path.
You will have another included transfer that will take you back to your accommodation in Santana.

Length: 14 km

From Paul da Serra to Encumeada

Breakfast and dinner included.

Today you will have an included transfer to Bica da Cana to enter the Paul da Serra plateau, in the heart of the island of Madeira. Along your walk along the Levada do Norte, the views of the San Vicente Valley and the extensive farmlands will make you fall in love with the place.

On today's route, there will be some tunnels that will take you to Encumeada, so we suggest you bring a torch or a similar item to be able to cross them without mishaps.

Hiking to Faja Escura

Breakfast included.

Today, you ascend for a few metres at the beginning of your day, from where you will begin your hike for this sixth day. You'll cross below Pico Grande later on.

Afterwards, you'll start to descend steeply via a rolling path that will take you to the hamlet of Faja Escura, your destination for today. Here, you will have a transfer included to your accommodation in Funchal.

From Boa Morte to Cabo Girão and Camara do Lobos

Breakfast included.

On this last day of walking, you will have a transfer included that will take you to the starting point inside Boa Morte. From there, you'll start walking through the Levada do Norte while on your way, and encounter eucalyptus and pine trees that will make your trail much more enjoyable.

Today, you will also pass through a small tunnel before reaching Cabo Girao, where the cliffs will surprise you. Then, you’ll continue to Camara do Lobos, the fishing village that will be your destination today, and here, you complete your hiking trail in Madeira.

Once there, enjoy a stroll through the harbour and a refreshing drink to recover from the day. Take a bus back to your accommodation in Funchal.

Return from Funchal

Breakfast included.

Today you will have a transfer included from Funchal to Funchal Airport, from where you can take your flight back to your hometown*.
