This route is of ancestral origin and by it have already travelled Canarian ancestors, known as Guanches, accompanied by their cattle and flocks.

You will start in the municipality of Vilaflor de Chasna and return to the same town at the end as this is a circular route. You will travel along trails full of pines and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, such as Guajara.

The most impressive of today's path will be the countless volcanic rocks you will see as you walk and whose shapes have been moulded over time, thanks to rain and wind, thus becoming structures very similar to those of the moon, which is why It receives the name of Lunar Landscape.

So don't worry, all your effort will be worth it.

You will later pass along a solidified lava path where you'll see immense rocks produced by volcanic explosions, as well as multiple tropical plants.

Finally, you will get to the Parador de las Cañadas, just at the beginning of Mount Teide.

Choice of a walk from the Parador de Las Cañadas

For today's route, you have three options to choose from. The first one will be to climb the Guajara Mountain, which is 2715 metres high. Once you reach the top, you will be able to enjoy observing the Teide volcano, La Caldera and, if it were not enough, the nearest islands: Gran Canaria and La Gomera. If you dare, you'll feel almost as if you've gone up to heaven.

You also have the option of climbing Mount Teide. You can do it in two ways. One, walking for an hour to the base of the cable car and, there, take it up to 3718 metres of altitude for which the famous volcano is famous.

Another, to make a circular route taking the cable car to the top and then walking downhill to the Altavista Refuge.

The third option and more comfortable, will be to take a walk in the so-called Roques Garcia, a set of very particular rock formations, also known as one of the best scenarios to walk inside the Teide National Park. The most popular of them are the 'Roque Chincha', 'La Catedral' and 'La Cascada'.

Finally, on Day 4, for any of the route options you choose, you must purchase the free Mount Teide permit on your own. We suggest you do so as soon as you confirm your reservation with us.

People with regular physical activity can start by walking from 45 to 60 minutes a day and increase the amount of time and kilometres they travel in the same span of time.

Generally, it is recommended to start training about three months before starting the route.

How far in advance should I make the reservation?

There is no minimum number of days in advance to book, although on certain dates the occupancy of the accommodation is higher, especially in high season.
