Circular route in San Pedro Pescador
On your route today, you will enjoy a hike from La Escala, to where they take you from San Pedro Pescador by taxi. Afterwards, you will go along a very easy-to-navigate coastline with spectacular views of the Pyrenees.
Then you will reach the Greek and Roman ruins in Ampurias, where you will be impressed by the ancient mosaics that you will find there. Finally, you will return along some country roads passing through the hamlet of 'Cinc Claus', to finally get back to San Pedro Pescador, where you will also spend the second night on your route.
From La Reserva Natural de Aiguamolls to Castellón De Ampurias
On the third day of your route, you will enjoy the River Fluviá and the Aiguamolls Nature Reserve in all its splendour, which extends over 2000 hectares. You can also discover multiple key points from which you can spot herons, ducks, among many other autochthonous animals that will make your experience even better.
The municipality of Castellón de Ampurias, where you will spend your third night, is a medieval town that, thanks to its historic buildings and medieval streets, will allow you to enjoy a lovely night of rest and relaxation after a day of walking.
From Playa Canyelles to Cadaqués
Today you will arrive at the village that is, surely, the most beautiful and popular in the whole province of Catalonia. They will transport you to Canyelles Beach so that from there you start your path through the cliffs of the Catalan coast.
You will see by your side beaches with crystal-clear waters in which you will want to bathe thanks to the beauty of the landscapes and to the tranquillity of the cliffs that accompany you. On your route you will see flowers, pines and citrus trees that you can enjoy while walking in the middle of the forest.
Then you will go back to the coast and then find old farmers trails whose beauty will surprise you. Once you have reached the peak of the ascent to which you are heading, you will begin to descend towards Cadaqués, a beautiful, small fishing village where you will spend the night after your fourth day of trekking.
Rest day or optional trek to the Parque Natural del Cabo de Creus
Today you will go to the Cabo de Creus National Park, where you will enjoy the spectacular lighthouse in the south of the peninsula.
Of course, from Cadaqués you will go with some nostalgia, choosing the hiking option if you have not been able to go through its beautiful streets, but do not worry because today you will stay overnight there again.
If you stay in Cadaqués you can visit its 17th-century church and also get to know the museum located in Salvador Dalí’s old house, which is a must visit in this town.
When you are in the National Park of Cabo de Creus, you know that you cannot miss the lighthouse and the views you will have of the Costa Brava from there.
Hiking in Puerto de Selva
Today you'll walk along beautiful routes in the Catalan countryside with stunning views across the centre of the Cabo de Creus Natural Park. You will cross a landscape of varied species and then arrive at your destination for today: The village of El Puerto de Selva. Once there, you will love its landscapes, its beaches and all the part of the mountain range that you will see from Puerto de Selva.
Then, in San Pedro de Roda do not miss its spectacular monastery. Later, if you are more of a beach person, because beaches are something that Catalonia has a very good reputation for, there in Puerto de Selva you will find some of the best for rest and enjoyment.
Hiking in the mountains of Palau Sabardera
Once you leave Puerto de Selva, you will climb behind this small town along its mountains. You will pass, first of all, by the San Pedro de Roda Monastery. Then you will continue to the ruins of the Castle of San Salvador.
Then, the Pyrenees and the Sierra de la Albera will be on your way with a view that will leave you fascinated and compensate for all the steep paths you have travelled across so far.
Then, crossing the mountain, you will reach Palau Sabardera, a small town in the province of Gerona, at the end of the hills. Once there, you can rest from your seventh day of walking, where you have already managed to finish all of your trekking routes successfully and surely you want a good drink in a local bar to also enjoy the culture of the province.
