Walking in La Sierra de Grazalema
Arrival in Grazalema
Today you will arrive in the beautiful white city of Grazalema, from where you will start your hiking route through La Sierra de Grazalema. The best way to get there is to take a flight to Malaga and, once there, take a bus that will take you to Ronda. From Ronda, a transfer included will take you to Grazalema.
This city will delight you from the moment you walk through it. Its white houses with decorated windows showing floral decorations and cobbled streets around it will take you back in time.
Circular route from Grazalema
Today you start your route through the Sierra de Grazalema and you will have two hiking options to choose from. In both, you will enjoy spectacular views, typical Andalusian limestone mountains and lots of vegetation that you will love.
Since both of the options are short, at the end of the day we suggest you take a walk in the village and revel with the views from a terrace.
From Grazalema to Benaocaz
Your hike today will be along the limestone paths of the Natural Park. You will pass through forests and typical Mediterranean vegetation, as well as around groups of traditional regional houses. You will then arrive in Villaluenga, from where you must reach Benaocaz by taking a taxi.
Once there, you will discover a village that, located on a hill, has a great tradition from the Roman era where it seems that everything is painted white thanks to its beautiful façades.
Circular route from Benaocaz
From Benaocaz today you will have the opportunity to make one or several walks around the spectacular municipality. In the morning, for example, we suggest that you walk the ancient Roman trail to Ubrique. Once there, in addition to resting and taking time to eat, you will have to decide if you return walking or take a taxi back.
When you return, you have the possibility of another circular route that runs along a historic path that has a viewpoint as its final destination.
From Benaocaz to Montejaque
Today you will take a short transfer to Villaluenga from where you will start your route to the Llanos del Republicano, through a descent that will take you to a valley where the river vanishes. Today's walk will be long, but it starts with a descent and it is not so difficult.
You will walk along cliffs between the Sierra de Libar and the Sierra del Palo, where you will have to follow a path adorned by limestone sculptures that will take you to Montejaque. This is another one of those beautiful white villages in the region.
Circular route of your choice from Montejaque
Today you have two route options to choose from. The first, through Pico El Hacho, along the Campobuche River valley, forests and extensive olive groves.
The second will take you along paved roads to Benaojan and then you will have to climb a steep path. Your final destination will be 'La Cueva de la Pileta', declared a National Monument, where you can get to know prehistoric cave paintings. To return to Montejaque, you can do so by ordering a taxi from the Cave.
From Montejaque to Ronda
Your walk today to Ronda will take you along cobblestone paths, extensive fields and long journeys surrounded by country houses. The town of Ronda retains a historic charm that will make the whole route worthwhile.
There, the El Tajo gorge with its abyss divides the city in two. Also, Puente Nuevo, which is actually from the 18th century, offers you beautiful views. We suggest you take photographs as souvenirs of this spectacular landscape.
The Moorish district is of great interest to the town, so be encouraged to discover it. Also, get to know and delight yourself with all the charm of Ronda that you will discover as you walk through its beautiful streets.
